Ptarmigan are birds that have a close relationship with Arctic peoples that shows clearly in the peoples’ legends, toys, and art.  This depiction on a Ptarmigan in flight is an excellent example of this.  The bird was sculpted from a single piece of multicolored green serpentine and stands over a foot high and weighs 6.5 lbs.  Only the most skilled of Inuit artists take on such a challenging task.  A absolutely stunning piece to say the very least.
