This impressive Polar Bear tips the scales at over 17lbs. and was masterfully sculpted by Inuit artist Isacie Petaulassie of Cape Dorset, Nunavut.  It's sheer size aside, this bear is special for many reasons.  To carve a dancing Polar Bear that can stand two different ways is no easy feat.  To distribute the weight evenly enough to stand a 17lb. bear two ways on one paw is nothing short of miraculous.   The distinct mix of color on this sculpture is also breathtaking.  What can't be seen very well in the pictures is a very vibrant mix of green coloring mixed in with the already beautiful all around coloring of this bear.  Cape Dorset is well known for it's Inuit artists and is considered the leader of Inuit art sculptures and prints in the Canadian Arctic.  Isacie Petaulassie's creations have sold all over the world and one of his more recent pieces similar to this one sold for four times the price at a gallery from the south!  A very special piece indeed!
